What sets experienced people apart from others with article writing is that they are prepared with methods and procedures in place for writing their articles. Throughout our website there are many pointers and products that will help satisfy different needs in the article writing process. Generally, article writing is an art, but a serious business as well. The idea of article writing is for informational communication; a great tool for expressing your ideas to readers and easy once you know how.

Remember that article writing is part science, part technical and part literature and is not done with the sole intent to sell a product or service, but to “inform”. The benefit article writing then provides is link building, back links or one way links, site traffic, visitors and buyers and a simple but great way to make money online.

Promote With Articles

Because you are here, you may already know that article writing is vital to your business. Article writing is a very common practice on the Internet for so many reasons, not the least of which is to make money either directly or indirectly. Article writing is one of the best marketing strategies to obtain free, natural or organic search engine listings within Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines. Article writing is one of the most popular ways to promote your website and it is considered by many to be a sound form of Internet advertising, if not the best. Currently, article writing is the most economical source of web promotion and advertising exposure. We have found through experience and much research that article writing is the most effective way to gain votes (in the form of unsolicited links) from other sites. If a Webmaster places, or cites your article on their website, this is considered a vote. Overall, article writing is one of the best ways to increase your traffic and get more sales.

Article writing is now perhaps the most important thing you can do to promote your web site. Writing Articles is a profitable method of marketing and getting free publicity. It has been accepted as one of the best tools used for online businesses. Online article writing is meant to get readers to leave the “ezines” or websites where they are reading your article, by way of the links to your website. If they have done that, then you have completed half your job, as the article written has then branded you as knowledgeable person. This, as a form of viral marketing, is a proven method to gain visibility for your business and increase traffic and sales. Article writing is for you if you want great benefits that don’t cost much more than time. Moreover, article writing is, if done correctly, the one significant form of marketing and promotion that guarantees your credibility and improved search engine rankings.

Article Construct

For most people quality article writing is not learned overnight. One of the toughest obstacles in article writing is actually starting the article writing process. Then, article writing is a doable task, but this is not to say that it is easy for everyone. Yes, there are a few that are naturals, but this is the exception not the rule. The process is fun and straightforward, once you know how to do it. In general, the writing of an article is not like writing an essay, it is more a composite of “information and marketing”. Writing articles gives you not only a sense of creative satisfaction but is also very much like teaching. These points are important, as they will guide you in the construct, approach, style and intent of your article. Moreover, article writing is not something that you have to pay for on an ongoing basis and it brings results, week in, week out.

In short an article is composed of 5 important components: the title, introduction, body, conclusion and resource box. The Title needs to be catchy and have keyword weight and placement. The Introduction gives the reader a highlight on what your article will address and contain a hint to your conclusion. The Body is the main part of your article and a helpful guide to Article Body Writing is that about three to five supporting topical items are addressed. Now, several article sites or ezines will allow you to place anchor text links within the article body, but only include them when appropriate.

Generally, a link to an appropriate site that supports or cites a particular point you are making is always acceptable. We however recommend avoiding the practice of placing any links in the body of your articles. You can lose your reader to the Internet ether. Next, it is poor form to label your conclusion as such in an article. Think of the conclusion as the warm up to your resource box and only summarize the points that were discussed. It is vital to not let the article fizzle out in a weak conclusion, so tell your reader why the article is important and how they should take action on the issue. The conclusion need only be one or two paragraphs to sum up and round off the information you presented. Your resource box or author bio is your next call to action. People appreciate modesty, so don’t toot your horn to loud, but do make sure it’s clear as to why and where they are going if they click your link.

Keyword For Article Content

Keyword article writing is when you make sure to have popular or content specific keywords in your articles. This is an important part of article writing and requires good keyword research skills. Niche Article writing is a way to enter into a greater untapped marketplace and is accomplished through the use of keyphrases or long-tail keywords. Semantic keyword research will allow you to produce articles that contain keywords that work well together. What this means is that the keywords are related, for example house, roof and window are related, whereas light bulb, coffee and printer are generally unrelated keywords. This is an important point since Google has introduced Latent Semantic Indexing. The search engine needs to see that the content on a page is interrelated and revolves around a theme.

Perhaps the most important thing about article writing is what you do with your articles once you’ve completed them. Write articles related to your products and/or services and submit these articles to various article directories and ezines. Article submission is a valuable way to get exposure and credibility for your website. Basically, article writing is the small step and after that if you do not market the articles, well then there is no benefit from it. Today, articles are also the best and most cost-effective way to put viable content on your site. Thus, marketing your online business in cost effective ways is why articles and article writing is so important.

All in all, article writing is free, provides exposure, assists in search engine optimization, gets targeted traffic to your site and is fun. Remember article writing is simple; they don’t have to be too long, just as long as they are well written and informative. Your article writing or content writing is a simple way to brand yourself as an expert and increase your reputation as well as your web presence. It is also an extremely effective and creative way of expressing yourself. Because of this, the value of article writing is immeasurable. However, although article writing is a recognized means of promoting a product and/or service, your article must remain on target or you are just wasting your’s as well as your reader’s time.

The article writing is a useful online marketing technique these days. Many article writers use their articles to promote their websites and generate traffic. However, writing effective articles that can generate higher traffic can be a huge challenge for the newbie writers. But after knowing some basics about the article writing and avoiding certain mistakes that are commonly made by the article writers, being a writer would not seem to be a tough job after all. The newbies will need to express their view in a manner that would attract their readers and create interest in them. Once the readers are interested after reading the article they might visit the website through the resource box available at the end of the article.

The most common mistake that article writers make while writing their articles is that many article writers do not concentrate on having well structured articles. In order to convey your point of view clearly and ensure that your point has been understood, you will need to have a well structured article. The structure of an article will play a very important role in conveying your message accurately. It will also help the readers in clearly understanding your points and building their interest in your article. A well structured article would normally have an introduction, a body and the conclusion as its basic elements. In the introduction section, you should write a brief about your topic and what you are going to discuss in your article. In the body of your article, you can give a detailed description about your topic and tell your readers as to what your article is all about. You can also give any of the points that you want to convey. In the conclusion, you will need to give a brief about what you have written in the article or any of the catchy points that you think will leave an impression on the readers’ minds.

The language used in your articles should also be flawless as it will give an impression about your abilities as a writer. You will need to have an excellent proficiency in the language that you using in the article. You should take great care with the spellings and the grammar as it will provide hints to the reader about your language abilities. Also, if your article is full of spelling mistakes or has a bad grammar use, then your reader will get bored while making a sense out of your article and the reader might just close your article or move to some other article.

Apart from the abovementioned mistakes, many writers also make mistakes in the structure of the resource box. These mistakes would cost even more than the mistakes made in the body of the articles, as the resource box plays an important role in guiding the readers to visit your website and hence increasing traffic on your website. So you should also take care in providing accurate links in the resource box and using the keywords not only in the article body but also in the resource box. These guidelines would help the newbie writers to begin their writing career effectively and prove their abilities and enhance their skills of writing.

Writing has a single requirement: that you write. There’s not much more to it, because when you write, writing will teach you what you need to know. You’ll stumble across teachers and books to short-cut the learning process, but essentially you’ll only learn by writing – and by avoiding the seven deadly sins of writing.

Here they are:

1. Writing Without Clear Goals – If You Don’t Know Where You’re Going, You’ll Get Nowhere

The first deadly sin of writing is writing without clear goals. You need both long-term goals, and short-term goals. However, since you can’t “do” any goal, you can only do tasks which (may) lead to your goals, you must set those tasks, and do them. I said “may” because you don’t need know how to do something like write a novel or get a copywriting client to achieve your goals. The “how” will become apparent as you do tasks – as you focus and write.

2. Writing Without Focus – Chunk Down Your Writing

Just as you can’t do writing goals, writing is a process, not a one-time event. So you need to chunk down tasks. For example, if your task is to write an article, one chunk is finding a title, another is writing an outline, another is a first draft, and so on.

Focus, and chunk, and you’ll meet your writing goals.

3. Writing In Your Head – Think On Paper, When It’s On Paper, You Can Fix It

Sitting and thinking about writing isn’t writing. Think on paper – write down everything that comes into your head about a writing task. You can winnow the grains of a project later from the chaff. Get the words – any words – onto paper or your computer screen.

4. Writing Without Reading – Editors Must Please Readers, And So Must You

When you’re writing to sell, you must know what people are buying – that is, what they’re reading. If you want to write a bestseller, read current bestsellers. If you want to write copy (write for business) read advertisements in newspapers, magazines and on the Web. Learn about business.

Ask yourself why a piece of writing is successful: once you know why, you’ve broken the code.

5. Procrastination: Just Write, Even If You Only Have One Minute

Writing takes time, but not a lot of time. You can write a page in five or ten minutes. It might not be great writing, but it doesn’t have to be. You can fix it later.

6. Writing With Half Your Brain – Creativity Means Using Your Right And Left Brain

Writing takes both creativity and logic – your right and left brain. Creativity means trusting your intuition, and just getting the words onto the computer screen, no matter how silly they sound to your logical left brain.

Trust your creativity.

7. Giving Up Your Individuality When You Write – Write YOUR Way

Trusting your creativity means writing your way. Yes, you must know what’s selling, but once you know why people read what they read, and why a certain piece of writing is successful, then you must write it your way, through the screen of your experience and creativity.

So, there you have the seven deadly sins of writing. Avoid them, and you’ll be a successful writer – the writer you were meant to be.

From experience we find the best outreach to get new visitors to your site to buy your books and reports is to write a lot of short, Ezine articles, that become widely distributed on the Internet through article directories.

BLOGS - Why should you want to write a blog when articles are better? I find myself as a writer wanting to say, write blogs. Blogs are personal. You get to give your personal views on life, on your life as a person and as a writer. You get to be chatty. You get to show off your writing skills, tell stories about yourself and your friends. You get to include pictures of friends and describe trips you have taken.

EZINE ARTICLES – Do you want free outreach on the web? However, as a writer, write EzineArticles instead! Why? Not that they are boring. It’s actually more true that blogs are boring. The best blogs have a name tag to them but the fact is that the most popular blogs are written by professional writers hired to research the web and write in that particular blog style.

BLOGS – What is wrong with blogs? Popular blogs are not written and kept up to date by you, a lone writer. It’s a team effort, a major publishing effort. Can you as a writer really afford to do this, even if you are good enough? Prove it, of course.

Why waste energy and time writing your blog when no one but no one is coming to your site? How many writer blogs have I browsed recently, all trying to give good information on how to write, and at the same time also push their own books, published and unpublished? I don’t see that there is much success in what these blogs do for their writers.

How do I know this? I’m tired frankly about reading any more entries about taking the cat to the vet, describing what the hubby thinks about something, reading one more interview with another writer. It’s all hogwash. It’s all boring. Why? Because it is repeat stuff, thousands of times over, only with the names changed. There is no new information here in most, if not all, writer blogs.

So as a writer, my experience says: DON’T WRITE BLOGS. WRITE EZINE ARTICLES. Here is the difference. We shall assume you are a good writer in the use of language, and you can research well and create information reports that are interesting and full of information. You write books as well. Even if you write novels they must be researched and full of information to sell, right? An Ezine article is a short article on a piece of a specific subject, like this article is making the case for writing Ezine articles and not blogs. I have done both, but I have had to choose one over the other. Here is a list of why I choose to write Ezine articles now.

EZINE ARTICLES – What is so great about Ezine articles?

Ezine articles give me focus for my research, ideas and insights, experience, and writing skills.

Ezine articles bring visitors to my home sites because Ezine articles are widely distributed.

Ezine articles have directories, collections of articles, that people go to to read on specific subjects.

Blogs have directories, but how can you classify what is written about in blogs?

Many blogs are just about whatever the blog writer wants to put in. There are some well-attended blogs that have reviews in a narrow subject area, like Technorati. Are these blogs, even if they say they are, or are they directories in a subject area? Whatever you call where your short writing ends up, in a blog, in a directory, in an Ezine article, at least know what you are doing and what you intend as the effect.

Build a system, a chain of cause and effect so that your end results that you want come through for you.
EZINE ARTICLES – What do the marketers say are the benefits? Ezine people who are also marketing people say that the purpose of writing a lot of free, short Ezine articles is to get your name and thought easily and freely distributed on the web. At the bottom of every Ezine article you put also your web sites or how to contact you.

Thus with Ezine articles you are getting your thought distributed in a large network of information outreach, and then out of your article readers you expect some of them to click on your link and come to your home site for more information on the subject you write about.

Thus, if you are a writer who has written a book, published in paper or not, non-fiction or fiction, you want people to buy that book from you, don’t you?

THE WEB – What do you need to do as a writer to become effective on the web? The best way on the Web is to create a home site about your book and its subject matter, fiction or non-fiction.

Next, you want people to come to your site in large numbers, because maybe one or two percent of your visitors will buy your book from you as a download electronic e-book, or also as a print-on-demand paper book. But before you can sell strangers your book you have to get them to your selling pages where you describe your book and its benefits.

SEARCH ENGINES SEO – What’s wrong with search engines? To get people to your site you can rely on the search engines. But this is way overplayed. Research shows that people only look at the top ten entries usually and click on those sites in a search.

How then are you going to get your carefully constructed web site into the search engines? There is a body of knowledge called SEO to show you how to do this.

However, these people will be trying to make money off of you as they advise you. They have a monetary interest in you, so you cannot trust them or their information. They are out there selling you a job in how to be successful and get rich, while they themselves try to get rich off of you. So, be careful of the search engine people, telling you how to manipulate Google to get a flow of visitors to your sites who will buy your books and information reports in large numbers.

Yes, learn to make or have made for you, web pages that are focused on a single subject so that the search engines are more likely to put you eventually in their top ten for your subject niche. Get search engine flow to your site, if you can.

Some marketing gurus say the competition out there is so fierce that you can only keep up with the latest strategies if you work full time at marketing. So is it worth it becoming also a marketing expert, or trying to copy someone else who is. And how would you ever know truth from falsity when dealing with high hype sales people.

Now look again at writing lots of short but informative free articles and having these distributed by Ezine article directories.

WRITING EZINE ARTICLES – Why? Why? Why?

they do bring people back to your site who are specifically interested in your information. These are people who may be more willing to buy your book. The trick is to not give readers enough free information so they don’t buy your book, or give them too little free information so they don’t see that you really are an expert in your niche field.

you write a lot of Ezine articles in your field to give the impression to strangers that you are an expert. As a novelist you know how to evoke suspense if you are a thriller novelist. Or, if you write non-fiction books on Love, Sex and Intimacy, you give your readers condensed free versions of your chapters but also write in such a way that you leave your Ezine article readers panting for more. After all, relationships are terribly important, right? But why should they listen to you? You must be better than the competition. Thus, if you have such a book, as I have, you write a lot of free Ezine articles, as I am doing, that give really good information but not all of it.

BUYING YOUR BOOK – How do you motivate people to buy your book?

-So, you use Ezine articles to get visitors to your home web site when you must then try to sell them the whole book at a price they and you can afford. You are writing up each chapter as a short, easy-to-understand Ezine article, and in those articles you have the links back to your main site.

Now, you have to write your web pages in a way that people will be motivated to pay their money to buy your book. How do you do this? At least one caution here.

SEO people have influenced me to put on the web an expert site. On this site: Creative Writing and Writers.com, I put a lot of good information on creativity, writing, and on my product: The Writer’s Interface. It was an expert site but we ceased development of it.

Why? It takes tons of time to develop an expert site. The purpose of developing an expert site with lots of free information, as well as information to buy in books, e-courses, and reports is to become dominant in your niche, which is then supposed to translate into being near the top in the search engine results page for your subject area. Such a thing could happen over time. Yet on the down side is that people will browse your rich, expert site and never buy a report or book or course from you.

THE SELLING SITE – Why do certain web sites sell well, while other web sites do not sell well your books and information? Now we have switched to a narrow focus selling site called The Writer’s Interface.com. We have a single subject on this site with a wonderful product, the best in its field, to sell.

This is The Writer’s Interface, of course, with over 2000 writing craft tools and structures to aid you the writer in actually writing a professional novel. This is our essence, our service to writers, to give them the writing craft knowledge to really write their novel. But how do you convince strangers like yourself that you have something that will benefit them best of anything out there?

first, you find writers currently with a problem that is how to write a damn good novel and improve their writing style.

you find currently interested people who are searching through, first, Ezine article outreach, and second, in the search engines eventually, if they like your site for its information and focus.

once you have a good information and selling site up you can also buy little ads, like Google Adsense, which are supposed to get new people to your home site, but this way can demonstrate success or failure, and so is not used by us yet until we have some success in what we are currently doing, and have the time and money to study if click-through ads on other sites really works.

THE WRITER’S INTERFACE – What is good about it? -For now in the rest of 2007 our efforts go into getting new people to our The Writer’s Interface selling site by writing at least one free Ezine article a week on some aspect of what The Writer’s Interface does best in showing writers how to write better books, especially novels, and including screen plays as well, which are really visual novels.

SUMMARY – What is your Action Plan? We suggest based on limited experience that writing many free Ezine articles on the subject area of your book or novel is they way to get visitors to a well-constructed home site for your book. It must be a focused, selling style site which combines information and choices to buy or not buy to gain the benefits that happen for readers when they buy and experience your book.

Don’t waste time and money on elaborate SEO expert sites, certainly not on personal writer blogs, nor on using Google ads.

Instead, start with writing free Ezine articles because these enjoy wide and free distribution on the World Wide Web in 2007. We don’t guarantee anything said here, though it does come from our personal experience. We give what we think because we are doing it ourselves.

COMMENT – What is your experience? What is your purpose? If you are a writer entering the web, or already on it, to market your books and expert information, what then is your strategy? If you have a writer and web strategy, what is it? If you don’t, what do you commit to now to develop a Web strategy for marketing your work? What do you need to do also to become a super effective writer who sells lots of books?

If you want to write a novel, but are putting it off until the kids are grown, I have two words for you: Don’t wait. It’s possible to raise a happy, healthy family and still follow your writing dream. And that’s true whether you’re single or married. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or work outside the house.

If you want to write a novel, but are putting it off until the kids are grown, I have two words for you: Don’t wait. It’s possible to raise a happy, healthy family and still follow your writing dream. And that’s true whether you’re single or married. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or work outside the house.

You may think I’m crazy – how can you find time to write when you’re already so busy you barely have time to sleep?

It can be done.

J.K. Rowling quite famously penned the first of her Harry Potter series in a coffee shop with her baby napping in a buggy. I wrote my first novel, Flip-Flopped, in two years by setting my alarm for 5 a.m. every day and squeezing in writing before work, and then stealing any other time I could. I’d write a scene while my son built a Lego castle, or do some editing while he was planted in front of the TV for a half hour.

A mother of two small children, Allison Pearson turned her frustrations as a mom into the best-selling novel, I Don’t Know How She Does It. She’s admitted that being a mom and trying to write a novel is difficult – “like having a secret third child in the house that you have to go and play with when the other two have gone to bed,” she’s said. Still, she managed to finish in a year, even with holding a job part of the time.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to sweep aside everything in order to write. There’s this assumption that writing a novel means countless hours of uninterrupted time-just you alone in a cabin somewhere with nothing but pen and paper and maybe a plate of Oreos. That’s not only impossible for most people, it’s not even preferable. Some of your best writing inspiration will come from life. If you make writing a part of your day-to-day routine, you’re far more likely to stick with it.

Some tips for combining motherhood with a writing career:

1. Schedule it in. A friend of mine has a regular 8 – 9 p.m. date with her computer. Barring a broken leg or the house burning down, she never misses it, and she rarely goes over. Knowing she has a limited time spurs her to be productive.

2. Lower your standards, at least when it comes to housework. Could the floor go one more day without sweeping? Could you use bottled pasta sauce instead of making it from scratch? Yes, June Cleaver always did everything perfectly, but she didn’t write a novel. She also wasn’t real.

3. Involve your kids. Plunk them down next to you with crayons and paper while you write. Dub it your “creative time.”

4. Be the tortoise. Forget every story you’ve ever heard about how this or that author wrote a book in a month. Writing your novel will take as long as it needs to take. If you stick with it, you’ll eventually get to the end.

5. Delegate. Women often get stuck with the housework because they feel they’re the only ones who can do it “right.” Give jobs away to your husband or kids, and resist the urge to re-do them – even if the towels aren’t folded right or the stove doesn’t gleam the way it should.

6. Consider starting small. If writing a novel seems overwhelming, start with a short story or even some of the super-short “flash fiction” that’s popular right now. The bonus: It’s easier to get short pieces published on the Internet, so you can amass clips.

7. Banish guilt. As women, it’s hard for us to take time for ourselves. If you’re feeling guilty about spending time writing, remember the saying, “kids learn what they see.” What your children will see is you plugging away at making one of your dreams come true. Isn’t that at least as important as a perfectly clean house?

Writer’s block.

Do the words make you wince?

If you belong to that blessed, miraculous group of people who can write anywhere, anytime, who are able to switch themselves on into a writing mood like a light-switch, then your answer will be No. But if you’re like me, and belong to that cursed, demonic group who kill themselves writing that first sentence, these words will make you grimace with a heartache that plunges deeper than the Cayman Trough.

But what is writer’s block, and why do many writers–damn good ones–suffer from it? Some think the reason is old plain laziness or lack of discipline, but I disagree. The reason is more complex. I can’t help remembering my creative writing professor back in college–a published author of many mystery novels who suddenly stopped writing for eight long years simply because he “froze at the computer and couldn’t put a word down.”

Only God knows the dark mechanics that kept my professor from writing for such a long time, so I can only speak for myself.

So here it goes. What is writer’s block? Following the famous editorial advice, instead of “telling” you, I will “show” you.

Picture in your mind a beautiful winter morning, snow falling from the window, the office toasty warm, the house empty and quite. It’s just me and writer’s block:

9:30 I sit at the computer, ready to write that piece of literature that will bring me fame and riches (okay, no need to be greedy, I’ll settle for riches).

9:31 I decide I better answer my emails first, get them out of my mind (yeah, right).

10:00 I’m thirsty. I better make myself some tea. Writers drink hot beverages, don’t they?

10:05 I’m back at the computer. I take a sip of my tea and suddenly remember all the things I should be doing instead of writing: wash the rabbit hutches, purchase moist wipes for my husband’s glasses, do the laundry, vacuum the bedrooms, feed the fish… somehow there’s no end to this list.

10:25 I stare at the blank monitor. I loathe myself.

10:30 I’m hungry. I’ll have an early lunch (someone should conduct a study about frustrated writers and overeating).

10:50 I glare at the sign on my desk “A Writer Is Someone Who Writes Everyday,” and try to set it to flames with my mind power.

11:00 I put Vivaldi on the stereo (studies have shown baroque music “expands” the mind).

You get the picture. This is writer’s block. This is what happens when I break the habit of writing everyday and disconnect myself from my current project. I don’t know about you, but when I don’t write, the consequences are catastrophic. I hate the world. I snap at people (my husband is my favourite victim). I feel trapped in a box, unable to breathe. If I were the sort of person who went to pubs, I would surely start a brawl.

But what causes writer’s block?

Almost always, it is fear. Plain and simple. F-E-A-R.

Fear of not being good enough.

Fear of not being able to write that perfect sentence that will impress the reader. No wonder it blocks! How can you write freely and impress people at the same time?
So in order to lift the block, you need to get rid of that fear. It is easier said than done, I know, but I will give you a few practical tips that will help you overcome it, based on probably the best book on writing in the market today, Julia Cameron’s The Right To Write. If these tips have worked for me, they can work for you, too.

1. Keep a journal and write 3 pages of anything that comes to your mind each morning. Strictly stream-of-consciousness stuff. The idea is to drain your brain of all the clutter so that when you sit at the computer to do the actual writing, you’ll be able to do it with a clear head. You don’t feel like writing this morning? Your writing sucks? You feel fat? You hate your neighbour? Write it down. By the way, if you feel like clobbering someone to death with a medieval flail, add that too. Write down your dreams, your plans, your fears. The idea is to keep writing non-stop until you have fill those 3 pages. Remember to do it in the morning. If you write in your journal at night you’ll probably go over what you did during the day and this will defeat the purpose. The idea is to positively affect your day by writing those pages in the morning. By training your mind to do this each morning, you will not only make writing more approachable, but also more disciplined.

2. Don’t edit as you write. If you can’t keep your neurotic, perfectionist urges under control, then at least keep them to an absolute minimum. Editing as you write is like editing a movie and filming it at the same time. It can become pathological. Editing, re-editing, searching for that flawless sentence that will create that immaculate paragraph. Well, do you want to know something? It won’t happen. No matter how many times you try to improve it, there will be always room for improvement. Ultimately, if you want to finish that first draft, you’ll have to trust yourself and simply let it go. Remember that a first draft is just that, a first draft. Once you’ve finished that first draft then you can polish and change and edit all you want.

3. Set yourself a small quota everyday. You don’t have to finish a whole chapter in one sitting. Just write 2 pages, or 1, or even just a paragraph. The important thing here is to meet that daily quota. It’s amazing how thinking like this can affect your brain. It’s like with exercise. If you tell yourself, “Oh no, I have to exercise for one whole hour,” this will block you. But if you think, “I’ll only exercise 20 minutes,” the work becomes more approachable and you’ll stick with it. The key here is to create the habit a little step at a time. This daily quota will allow you to feel “guilt-free” for the rest of the day, making it possible for you to spend happier times with your family and do other things. In other words, if you stick to your writing schedule, you’ll be able to enjoy life.

4. Have the right sense of direction. This is probably one of Cameron’s most powerful advice. Don’t think that you have to think something up, that you have to create something. Instead, think that the words, plots, characters are already there suspended in some other dimension, and all you have to do is listen intently and write the words down as if taking dictation. Thinking like this will immediately lift a heavy load off your shoulders. It will make you feel free of responsibility and allow your writing to flow easier.

5. Find a support group. Artistic souls need artistic soul mates. If there isn’t any support group you like, start your own, like I did. As I write this article, I’m sitting at a café with 3 writer friends. We meet every Friday morning from 10 to 12. These meetings are incredibly productive, maybe for the simple reason that I HAVE to write. I mean, face it, not writing alone at home is bad, but not writing in front of your writer friends would be a disgrace. Who wants to be a loser? Also, writers need to get out of their homes and experience a change of scene. Writing at a café makes writing fun.

6. Give your brain high quality foods: Read great books on all types of subjects. I read astronomy, cosmology, history, comparative religion, physics, metaphysics. Listen to music. Music can trigger powerful inspiration. But please, not heavy metal! Put your favourite composer on the stereo, close your eyes, and let your mind drift. This can be a powerful form of meditation. I assure you scenes of future books will appear in your mind, characters will talk, ideas for your present project will present themselves. Visit museums, flower shops, go to the theatre, take walks and observe nature. All these things will enrich your life and your mind, automatically giving your writing more energy and depth.

Don’t be afraid. Just write. Just WRITE. Just describe the movie in your head and put the words down. In the meantime I’ll try to apply these wise words to myself, and not give the evil eye to the “A Writer Is Someone Who Writes Everyday” sign on my desk.

Since I’m both a writing instructor and a writing coach, people are always asking me, “What’s the difference between a writing instructor and a writing coach?”

Here’s what I tell them.

A writing instructor is someone who teaches a person (or persons) HOW to write. A writing instructor can teach various types of writing such as technical writing, writing for children, resume writing, writing screenplays, etc. Generally, a writing instructor or teacher is needed when someone wants to learn the craft of writing in one genre or another.

A writing coach can also teach the mechanics, or the “how-to” of writing, from time to time. But generally, a writing coach works with a person (or persons) who knows the mechanics of the type of writing he wants to write, but he has trouble staying on track. The writing coach’s client needs help with specific strategies to develop a focus for his writing (and perhaps even for his writing career) and then comes to the coach seeking additional help maintaining that focus.

Both writing instructors and writing coaches can help motivate the writing student or client. But a writing instructor develops the focus for the instruction he or she is presenting to the student(s), while, with a writing coach, the client is directly or indirectly responsible for setting the focus of each coaching session.

Think of it this way. If you know the kind of writing you would like to do, but you don’t have the skills, education, and training required for this type of writing, then you probably need a writing teacher or instructor. On the other hand, if you HAVE taken courses, workshops, and other training and are skilled at the type of writing you wish to pursue, yet you can’t seem to stay motivated or focused long enough to complete that book you’ve always wanted to write, or you can’t figure out how to use your skills to develop a full-time writing career, then you probably need a coach.

How to write a book information is something more and more people want these days. Studies have shown that three out of four people would like to write a book in their lifetime. These people are always looking for advice on how to write the book they dream about writing.

Most people have three major obstacles between their desire to write a book and their ability to do it. If they don’t overcome all these obstacles, they won’t be able to make their writing dream come true.

The obstacles include: lacking the know-how to organize their thoughts, lacking the writing skill necessary to write a book, and lacking the time to write.

Here’s the how to write advice you need to overcome these obstacles:

1. The first essential aspect of how to write a book is learning to organize your thoughts so your subject matter makes sense. When you learn how to write a book, you want to learn how to write in an orderly way.

The best way to do this is to start with a “brain dump.” Scribble down every major topic you can think of for your book. For example, if you want to write a book on gardening, you may write down topics like tools, seeds, fertilizing, pesticides, organic techniques, greenhouses, flowers, grass, trees, etc.

Once you have your main topics, think about what order will make the most sense to your reader. After you have the order, start making lists of what information you’ll need to include for each topic. Organizing your book is a must before you start to write.

2. The second must-have before you write a book is the writing skill to pull it off. You need to work on the how to write basics in order to write well-constructed sentences and paragraphs for your book.

Taking a how to write course or reading a how to write manual is an essential part of getting ready to write a book. Learn the craft of writing.

3. The third key to learning how to write a book is learning how to create time in your life to do it. The best way to create this time is by carving it out in little pieces. A book doesn’t get written in a day, not even by the most prolific of writers.

When you get in the practice of writing a little everyday (whether you have five minutes or five hours to spare), you’ll be amazed at how much you can improve your writing skills on a day to day basis, and you’ll be amazed at how much you can write over time. A couple years ago, I wrote a 920-page novel in 5 weeks–I wrote about 5 hours a day. How was I able to write 35 to 40 pages in 5 hours each day? I was able to do it because I’d spent years learning how to write often and quickly. The more you write, the more you’ll know how to write fast (and well)!

When you overcome these obstacles, you may have a book in your future if you focus your energy on how to write.

In a previous article that I wrote, “The Art of Christian writing,” I talked about how to write from God’s inspiration as a Christian writer. When you decide to write a Christian ebook, its kind of content is not going to be vastly different from your other writing works as a Christian writer. You are still a Christian writer who must write from the seat of a God inspired spirit and soul.

There are many excellent secular articles on how to write your first ebook. Some may tell you to do some research and find out what’s “hot” or selling on the Internet market and then write about that topic. Hopefully, the topic would be in the same line as your business. Others may tell you to use article writing to promote your website and product(s), without being flagrantly product promotional in your ebook. Still, many people do not follow this good advice; they simply write very poor quality ebooks that are nothing more than pages of promotional material for their products and websites, with no real valuable content information for the reader. While ebooks are an effective tool for marketing an internet business or other businesses, I agree with those who suggest that ebooks should be content-rich and provide valuable information for the reader, even if the ebook is a free, give-away gift to promote a website or business product(s).

As Christian writers, we are not to be driven solely by profit in making our decision about what ebook topic we are to write. I believe that first and foremost, we are really “Ghost” writers for God through His Holy Spirit that dwells within us. So, we are to first pray and ask God to inspire us to write on a topic that He wants us to. You see the amazing thing about being a Christian writer is that when God inspires you to write about a specific topic, rest assured that many people need that information. For example, you may be inspired to write about how to select the best ebook creating software for Christian writers. You may be surprised at the number of Christian writers who are struggling to understand and decide which software to purchase for use in writing and publishing their ebooks. You could be inspired to write about selecting a good website hosting company. You may later discover that with the myriads of website hosting companies available, many Christian writers are overwhelmed with trying to select the company that offers the best and appropriate package for their desired website. God guides Christian writers on what to write and how to write what they write. So, never take this aspect of Christian writing for granted. Once you have a clear vision of the ebook that you are going to write do some research to add to your work.

Once your inspiration is now soaring and you are overflowing with words to pen down, feel free to start writing, using any word processing software. Later, you can always cut and past your writing into an ebook creating software application, or easily covert your document into a simple pdf file. Please note that there are people who write directly into an ebook creator software application. Personally, I prefer to write and store my initial ebook content in a word processing application and then transfer such content, as needed, when creating an actual ebook. In the case of an ebook pdf format, all you would need to do is simply distill a word processing document into a pdf file format.

Below is a clear, writing approach that I suggest that you take as you embark on writing your first Christian ebook writing project:

1.	First, you must ask some critical questions. Who is your target audience? Is it just Christians or everyone? If it is everyone, then you need to decide how to present the Biblical information, in a manner that many will receive it. In short, you would need to write what I call, “crossover” Christian writing. This is the kind of writing that appeals to both Christians and non-Christians, because it contains palatable universal truths that all humans can relate to. For example, “Understanding your purpose in life,” “Christian strategies for dealing with daily stress,” etc. But remember, you have to write what God has inspired you to write.

2.	Write down an outline of the Christian topic you have decided to write about based on a Biblical theme. Decide whether you plan to write a short Christian ebook or a full-blown book length. I suggest that depending on what the Christian ebook is meant to accomplish, you should then make the decision about the length. For example, if the Christian ebook is for teaching, it could be longer than one designed for evangelism.

3.	Organize your Christian ebook outline into logical chapter sections. This could be a by-chapter one-sentence synopsis of what each chapter of your ebook will be about. This is a kind of chapter-by-chapter synopsis.

4.	Start with an introduction. Why are you writing about this specific topic? Are there existing problems that individuals are facing, either within the Christian community, or the world as whole, and that you need to address in your writing? Also, be ready to offer Bible-focused approaches or solutions to tackle the problems identified, but avoid coming across as being judgmental.

5.	What do you hope to achieve with your Christian writing, specifically, your ebook? Is a teaching, preaching or an evangelism tool? Is it motivational or inspirational writing? What is your target gender and age group, etc.? Is your ebook for women or men, youth or children? Remember that you are targeting sub groups from within a general pool of Christian readers and non-Christian readers, and perhaps, new individuals who recently have become inspired to read ebooks and books in general.

6.	Now, center on your main writing focus, which is the primary core of your Christian ebook. Write from your heart. Write as though you are sitting with someone you really care about and whose interest you have at heart. So, pour out in your writing, the inspirational words that God has given you. Tackle the issue of your writing focus with powerful words of God and deliver in writing an electrifying message, offering short and long-term Bible-based approaches to solving the problems. Don’t worry about editing your writing for now. Just write. You’ll focus on the editing aspect later.

7.	Make sure that as you write on the main focus, that is the core of your writing, you clearly identify specific issues, discuss them and provide solutions or guidance based on God’s Holy Word. Don’t come across as superficial in your writing, or as having little or no expert knowledge on the topic that you are writing about.

8.	Write simply, clearly and concisely. As much as possible, please bullet your points and keep them straightforward and plain. Remember that when people are seeking information, the last thing they would want is a long, convoluting prose that is hard to decipher what the point is.

9.	As much as possible try to use specific and realistic examples to illustrate your points.

10.	Avoid using generalizations, as this may turn off some people.

11.	If you are writing a “crossover” Christian ebook, don’t sound too preachy or you may loose your audience. Instead, present and illustrate God’s Holy Word with examples of real life scenarios that your audience can relate to. For example, you can illustrate how a mountain climber stranded on a Swiss snow mountain prayed for a miracle and got one; a rescue helicopter that had flown across several times and didn’t spot him, suddenly did after he prayed.

12.	Write your conclusion or summary. This should be brief and concise and should not be a repetition of what you have already stated; rather you can ask a question about the Christian topic that you are writing about. Something for your reader to think about, or perhaps, a hook that would make then eager to read your next Christian ebook.

13.	Now, edit and polish your ebook content that is still in a word processing format, and get it ready to be produced or created, that is, for you to cut and paste your writing into the ebook format of your choice. There are many excellent articles on different ebook formats and ebook cover creator software. Shortly, I will be adding a new article, “Christian Writers Choice of Ebook Format.”

Bear in mind that your first Christian ebook could become the beginning of a great Christian ministry for you. Your first Christian ebook could be the beginning of tons of ebooks that you will be writing, a Christian ebook webstore or a teaching, preaching and evangelism ministry that could touch the lives of millions around the world. Remember the popular adage that goes, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” So, gear up, take the first step, and start writing your first Christian ebook.
