What is there to know about freelance writing?
After searching around a bit, I found people saying and getting answers talking about freelance writing “jobs”, and where to get employed to do freelance writing work, and I thought for a moment, hang on, this doesn’t fit … as I’m aware of it, freelance writings have no obligations and can write anything, then send it to a publisher and see if they like it, but people are suggesting that, even to do that, you have to work for someone first. Can you not go into freelance writing staying unemployed, if not having another job already?
If there’s anything else you can tell me, that’d be greatly appreciated. Spammers will obviously not get 10 points, and anyone who spams for a “free 2 points” will be thumbed down and reported. Hope you guys can help :P.

who is lance? and, why should he be free?
My mother was a free lance writer of short stories, verse and poetry. She made several attempts to get her stories published but simply got no luck. I have read some of her writings and they are insightful and inspiring. But to write, for the sake of writing, if you can afford to slum it go ahead, get inspired and write to your heart’s content.
Freelance writers CAN write about anything they want to and TRY to sell it to someone willing to pay for it, but they can also take on specific assignments from someone willing to pay. The key thing about “freelance” is that they don’t get a regular paycheck from anyone. As Toby Keith nce observed, about his time in football – “Semi-pro means semi-paid.” Few people make a living from freelance writing and usually have to either have another “day job” or be supported by a spouse/friend.
