You might want to check out Guru.com - but don't bother with the free level of membership. Get the least expensive paid level, and bid at least five projects a day.

There's a great report on the site below that'll help you get started on your writing business.

Check out Media Bistro (www.mediabistro.com)--it's a networking site for media professionals and freelancers, including writers.

Often it's good if you can find a niche for yourself--some topic you're especially interested in or know a lot about. Then approach magazines about that topic or whose readers might be interested in that topic with article ideas (research their submission guidelines first, of course). Take horses for example--you could write articles for magazines about horses, or horse/riding articles for teen, animal, fitness, or regional magazines, etc.

Being a full time freelance writing requires a lot of time on your part looking for markets, submitting proposals or articles, etc. Especially in the beginning. Once you've established yourself as a good writer who always meets deadlines and requires little editing, some markets might start coming to you.

Except possibly for things like advertisement copywriting, there aren't a lot of single places that could give you a full time level of assignments.

Spend some time in the library reference section with their copy of Literary Marketplace- the author's bible. Take a notebook because you can't check it out. You can buy one if you want but it costs 300 dollars.

Just make sure you check anyone through proper channels first - Absolute Write Water Cooler's Bewares and Background Checks, Preditors and Editors, Writers Wall, Writers Weekly, Writers Beware, Anne Crispin's site etc. Some of those sites also publish free lance jobs. Pax- C
