How to get a job in writing?

i’m not very experienced
i was wondering how you could even apply to a job like that?

Write. Read books & take courses on writing. When you have some samples of your work that have been critiqued and passed muster by experienced professionals, start submitting.

Lots of people “want” to write, but most cannot apply seat of pants to seat of chair long enough to actually write anything, and most of those who do then discover they cannot spell, punctuate or know the difference between “heel” & “heal,” “sail” & “sale.” Master the language.

And note that the average income for freelance writers runs about $5000/yr, which is almost exactly the same as it was in the mid-1970′s. According to the IRS. Of course, rents run about 5 times higher now than they were back then.

Have you considered trying to get some work samples out there through sites like Helium.com? Or some freelance work through sites like oDesk.com? Regardless of your dream job in writing, samples and experience are key. Once you’ve got some experience, you might also want to visit your local library to check out a copy of the Writer’s Market to get some ideas on submitting for publication.
