from the Inside…Out: discover, create and publish the novel in you!

Whether you’ve never written a novel before, or you’ve written several manuscripts, this workbook will help you. I’ve sat in on Susan May Warren’s and Rachel Hauck’s writing workshops before at writer’s conferences, so I am thrilled that this workbook is now available. In this format, they can spend more time on the topics, then you can address your own project and immediately apply the ideas they present. They inspire you to dream and encourage you to follow through, especially if you’re a beginner. The more seasoned writer will also be encouraged and find helpful tips on such things as characterization, overall plot, crafting scenes, POV, storyworld, dialogue, even editing and synopsis writing. One of the concepts I drew a lot from was Susan’s characterization based on the elements of self-esteem. If you’ve ever read Susan’s novels, you’ll probably agree her characters seem to breathe. That’s compelling in fiction. I’m looking forward to applying more of her techniques. That said, there are some topics in the workbook which the experienced writer will find elementary. But someone who is newly published or working toward getting published, or just beginning to explore writing will find the tips useful. The beauty of the workbook format is being able to reuse the “Your turn…” segments for subsequent projects. I use a notebook and scribble down my notes for one project, then move on and use the same workbook prompts for my next project. Susan May Warren and Rachel Hauck are two of the Book Therapists on http://www.BookTherapy.com. They offer high level critiques and writing help to writers at all levels. This book is an extension of their heart to teach and one worth having!
