Copyediting or Technical Writing?

How do I get involved in these fields? I don’t have a degree in writing/tech writing or English or Journalism. I am a published author however.
Who uses such people? Where do I look to find such jobs?

well you do need at least a degree in journalism or communications. if you are published look for work in the fields you got published under.
Academic presses. Go to a bookshop that specialises in the type of books you are interested in, take note of the publishers then go to their websites. They will have a page for writers. Because I am an academic, I get offers from publishers to write chapters in technical books all the time. They are desperate for experts to write for them. If you have the appropriate background and writing skills they will snap you up.
Dont know anything about copyediting , but for technical writing, look at technical companies seek out positions there.
If you need a foot in, look at classifieds for part time technical writing positions to get experience.
From my experience, each company has different requirements for technical writers. Some want a certification, some want technical expertise and some just want some writing to look at.
I was offered a position at Continental Data Graphics, a subsidiary of Boeing as a technical writer. I did not take the position but I did not have a certification, but I have a science degree and have had publications in scientific journals.
Another company i applied for wanted writing samples as part of the application.
Another company required that I have a certification. So it all depends.
I suggest you go to job fairs where technical companies are represented to ask what you need to become a technical writer or call their hr to find out specifics. Below are some links.
