I was very pleased with the book. It delivered the information as described. While I am still battling this self imposed resistance to actually write, books such as this one, give me further encouragement for when I am really ready. That was all I was asking of this book and it delivered that well.

If you are like me, that is, if you were just starting out as a freelance writer, then this book is a great place to start. I have to admit, that much of the material actually scared me away from freelancing. I love to write, but it sounds like there are too many legal matters, contracts, copyrights, etc. to enjoy the profession. Maybe an agent would help? The book seems to cover almost every angle, things to avoid, ways to succeed, how to get started…

The ASJA Guide is a super resource for everyone from aspiring writers to experienced pros, with concise, helpful chapters written by successful freelancers. I especially enjoyed Kelly James-Enger’s chapter on selling reprints and Lester Picker’s chapter on hiring an assistant (an idea I’ve been toying with myself).
